Personal Fitness Practices Now

December 26, 2010

Right now I am doing a creatine loading phase for 5 days to cap off the strength gains I have made over the last several months while doing heavy weight lifting. I have made massive strength gains in the past during the 5 day loading phase taking one teaspoon of micronized creatine 5 times per day for 5 days. I have added jumping rope to my routine as well as several rounds on the heavy bad a few days a week when I am not weight lifting. I will be doing a modified 10 day juice fast after the new year with a little extra cardio to strip down the remaining fat and increase my definition.

Product Spotlight: Bee Pollen

December 24, 2010

Bee Pollen is an extreme longevity food as evidenced by the high percentage of Georgian centurions that were bee keepers eating pollen, honey, and royal jelly in their raw organic state. Bee Pollen is literally filled with Life giving Prana. Nutrient dense, high in protein, mineral, and enzymes, many world class endurance athletes make bee pollen part of their nutritional regime. Pollen is high in choline which has been shown to extend the amount of time endurance swimmers can swim before reaching exhaustion.

I like the YS Organics brands of pollen and royal jelly as it is the only organic certified source in North America. It is available on my site RenewYourself.net and a pound of organic pollen costs just over ten dollars

Holiday Blues

December 23, 2010

Many of us tend to overindulge and have breaks from our normal routines during the Holiday season, often resulting in sluggishness, weight gain, irregularity, and sometimes the blues.

My tips for getting back in the swing of things following the New Year would be to do a 24-36 hour fast on either warm water or herb teas or alternatively on fresh made vegetable soups. Taking a mild tonic like Triphala will help to gently cleanse the digestive tract and bowels while aiding elimination. A further explanation of Triphala and its action is available on my website. Using mild digestives like ginger tea and mint teas will help to sooth the digestion. Avoid cold drinks and leftover foods and instead favor warm easy to digest foods like fresh made vegetable or lentil soups. Drinking hot water with a teaspoon of fennel, coriander, and cumin in a thermos of a quart of hot water every hour thru the day will stimulate digestion.

Try to go for morning walks and work on restorative yoga stretches with deep rhythmic breathing featured in my book Renew Yourself. Doing self massage with sesame oil followed by a hot Epsom salts bath will help to calm the nerves and gently detox the body.

For a more thorough cleanse follow my guideline for a home Detoxification program that lasts a week featured in my book Renew Yourself. Lastly consider doing a two week cleanse with the formula Elim Tox to assist detoxifying the liver, sweat glands and colon. This is available upon request. Elim-Tox helps purify toxins from your whole body — down to the cells. You’ll feel healthy, clear and light.

Let’s face it. Modern life is full of toxic input: chemicals and preservatives in your food supply, toxins in the air and water; digestive impurities that build up due to poor eating habits. Not to mention the toxic build-up that results from mental, physical and emotional stress. In Maharishi Ayurveda, these impurities are called ama. They disturb liver functioning and the healthy breakdown of fats, leading to weight and cholesterol problems. They interrupt circulation, leading to poor nutritional input to the cells. They block elimination, causing digestive disturbances. They interrupt the immune system, leading to allergies and disease.

Like other cleansers, Elim-Tox detoxifies the colon and digestive tract. But it doesn’t stop there — it also cleanses the liver, the sweat glands, the nutritive fluid, the blood, the fat tissue. Because this blend of 18 ayurvedic herbs clears the microchannels of the body, allowing waste to be removed and vital nutrients to reach the cells, you’ll feel energy radiating from every pore.

Personal Lifestyle

December 12, 2010

My psyche has me doing little cross checks with the economy. I don’t want to be a doomsday prophet, and while I hope and pray for the best I am also trying to be prepared for the worst. The global economy has 500 trillion dollars to unwind. We have not even touched starting to unwind this debt. The current lifestyle is unsustainable. The governments have been doing a pretty good job of putting their fingers in the dike, and keeping people from panicking.

I am refraining from accumulating too many possessions, getting my truck in travel condition, and putting first aid, and emergency and survival gear together. Worse comes to worst, I will be heading south into Mexico and Central America hopefully with my girlfriend, my surfboard, a spear gun, water purifiers etc. You can always survive in the tropical west coast with minimal shelter to keep the rain and mosquitoes out, and you will not freeze and starve as there is seafood, fruit, and coconut water. Diving, swimming, surfing, hiking, doing yoga, meditation, and a good companion will keep you healthy strong and fill the days with fun and laughter and love. I encourage all of you to have a couple of large tubs of e3live powder, medical supplies, water purification, camping gear in place, with plans to be able to get out of the city. A small supply of silver and gold coins would also be a good idea. Work on getting your body detoxified and able to sustain itself on simple natural foods and to also be able to whether being without food for short stays where you may have to fast. Strength train and condition to make your body strong and learn basic first aid and survival scales. I think that Viktoras Kulvinskius’s book Survival into the Twenty First Century may not have been to far off the mark.

Product Spotlight: Pure Synergy

December 12, 2010

With literally hundreds of green powder supplements on the market it is hard to figure out which one is best. In my opinion Pure Synergy is the best green powder supplement on the market. My colleague Gabriel Cousens, M.D. , concurs with me on this subject.

Pure Synergy has over 64 organic live ingredients picked at the peak of potency and prepared in way that they are enzymatically alive. Pure Synergy was developed by Mitchell May after being in a life threatening accident in which he almost lost his leg. It has 7 kinds of algaes and spirulinas, 7 kinds of seaweeds, 7 different vegetables, enzymes, and number of western herbs as well as Chinese super tonic herbs. Pure Synergy shows a bioluminescent aura around all ingredients with Kirlan Photography one year after preparation into the formula. Taking this formula covers many nutritional bullets and assists in increased mineralization including calcium. It is available on my website RenewYourself.net and I suggest taking one Tablespoon a day along with E3Live. In my opinion these are two of the most important supplements to take.

Ask the Doctor: Depression

December 10, 2010

Question:
I am feeling depressed. What can I do?

Answer:
It is important to understand the symptoms of depression. The often include anxiety, lack of energy, insomnia, and frequent crying. Neurotransmitters like dopamine, noradrenalin, and serotonin are composed of amino acids. When you are depressed there is often an imbalance in neurotransmitters.

Taking the amino acids 5-HTTP, Gaba, Glutamine, Dl-Phenylalanine, and SAM in supplement form will provide the precursors to many of the neurotransmitters. Supplementing with solid doses of long chain omega 3 fatty acids EPA/DHA will also be beneficial. These long chain omega 3 fatty acids compose large portions of the brain and central nervous system. The only vegan sources of EPA/DHA are blue green algaes like E3Live and Spirulina. You would need very large doses of these to get what is needed. If you are depressed I suggest you start with 4000 mg. Of micro distilled fish oils daily until you level off. Please avoid alcohol and self medicating with recreational drugs as these further deplete the neurotransmitter base.

The liquid supplement from E3Live called BrainOn Supreme would be beneficial as it has four times the PEA of E3live. PEA is the molecule of love and has a profound effect on depression. You should work up to 4 tablespoons first thing in the morning with juice on an empty stomach and wait 20 minutes before eating anything other than fruit. BrainOn Supreme is available on my website, and by plugging in coupon code “surf” you will get a $10 discount on any BrainOn purchase over $120.

It is important to exercise with 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week and strength training twice a week. This helps boost neurotransmitters and balances out some of the hormone system as well as makes you feel better about yourself. Doing restorative yoga and deep breathing as well as meditation will improve your situation. These are outlined in my book Renew Yourself : Keys to Rejuvenation and Youthing.

Eat freshly prepared organic whole foods, and avoid commercialized and processed foods.

Doing a 7 day Home detox program as outlined in my book Renew Yourself: Keys to Rejuvenation and Longevity will do wonders for jump starting a new lease on life.

If your sleep cycles are off you need to address the insomnia which is discussed in my blog here.

I suggest supplementing with the Ayurvedic formula Blissful Joy which is available from upon request by emailing drgeorgecromack@hotmail.com. Taking the supplement Tripphala and hour before bed and avoiding cold drinks as well as following the suggestions on digestion in a previous blog post will help to remove toxins in the body that are causing sluggishness.

Doing abhyanga or self massage with sesame oil in the evening would be good and this is discussed in my book.

If you are on medication for depression from a physician do not come off the medication rapidly and talk with your doctor regarding possibly slowly reducing your medication. It would be better to follow some of these suggestions for a month before considering reducing your medication with your doctor’s help.
