Right now I am doing a creatine loading phase for 5 days to cap off the strength gains I have made over the last several months while doing heavy weight lifting. I have made massive strength gains in the past during the 5 day loading phase taking one teaspoon of micronized creatine 5 times per day for 5 days. I have added jumping rope to my routine as well as several rounds on the heavy bad a few days a week when I am not weight lifting. I will be doing a modified 10 day juice fast after the new year with a little extra cardio to strip down the remaining fat and increase my definition.

Holiday Blues

Many of us tend to overindulge and have breaks from our normal routines during the Holiday season, often resulting in sluggishness, weight gain, irregularity, and sometimes the blues.

My tips for getting back in the swing of things following the New Year would be to do a 24-36 hour fast on either warm water or herb teas or alternatively on fresh made vegetable soups. Taking a mild tonic like Triphala will help to gently cleanse the digestive tract and bowels while aiding elimination. A further explanation of Triphala and its action is available on my website. Using mild digestives like ginger tea and mint teas will help to sooth the digestion. Avoid cold drinks and leftover foods and instead favor warm easy to digest foods like fresh made vegetable or lentil soups. Drinking hot water with a teaspoon of fennel, coriander, and cumin in a thermos of a quart of hot water every hour thru the day will stimulate digestion.

Try to go for morning walks and work on restorative yoga stretches with deep rhythmic breathing featured in my book Renew Yourself. Doing self massage with sesame oil followed by a hot Epsom salts bath will help to calm the nerves and gently detox the body.

My psyche has me doing little cross checks with the economy. I don’t want to be a doomsday prophet, and while I hope and pray for the best I am also trying to be prepared for the worst. The global economy has 500 trillion dollars to unwind. We have not even touched starting to unwind this debt. The current lifestyle is unsustainable. The governments have been doing a pretty good job of putting their fingers in the dike, and keeping people from panicking.

I am refraining from accumulating too many possessions, getting my truck in travel condition, and putting first aid, and emergency and survival gear together. Worse comes to worst, I will be heading south into Mexico and Central America hopefully with my girlfriend, my surfboard, a spear gun, water purifiers etc. You can always survive in the tropical west coast with minimal shelter to keep the rain and mosquitoes out, and you will not freeze and starve as there is seafood, fruit, and coconut water. Diving, swimming, surfing, hiking, doing yoga, meditation, and a good companion will keep you healthy strong and fill the days with fun and laughter and love. I encourage all of you to have a couple of large tubs of e3live powder, medical supplies, water purification, camping gear in place, with plans to be able to get out of the city. A small supply of silver and gold coins would also be a good idea. Work on getting your body detoxified and able to sustain itself on simple natural foods and to also be able to whether being without food for short stays where you may have to fast. Strength train and condition to make your body strong and learn basic first aid and survival scales. Ask the Doctor: Depression

I am feeling depressed. What can I do?

It is important to understand the symptoms of depression. The often include anxiety, lack of energy, insomnia, and frequent crying. Neurotransmitters like dopamine, noradrenalin, and serotonin are composed of amino acids. When you are depressed there is often an imbalance in neurotransmitters.

Taking the amino acids 5-HTTP, Gaba, Glutamine, Dl-Phenylalanine, and SAM in supplement form will provide the precursors to many of the neurotransmitters. Supplementing with solid doses of long chain omega 3 fatty acids EPA/DHA will also be beneficial. These long chain omega 3 fatty acids compose large portions of the brain and central nervous system. The only vegan sources of EPA/DHA are blue green algaes like E3Live and Spirulina. You would need very large doses of these to get what is needed. If you are depressed I suggest you start with 4000 mg. Of micro distilled fish oils daily until you level off. Please avoid alcohol and self medicating with recreational drugs as these further deplete the neurotransmitter base.

If you are on medication for depression from a physician do not come off the medication rapidly and talk with your doctor regarding possibly slowly reducing your medication. It would be better to follow some of these suggestions for a month before considering reducing your medication with your doctor’s help.
